Challenge

  • Create an online community for alumni to connect with each other and current students.​

  • Allow alumni to update their own information through an online portal.​

  • Allow the International Education department to track prerequisites for students enrolled in study-abroad programs.​

  • Enable application requirement tracking and reporting for the Admissions department.​

  • Develop system for market and territory assignment within the Admissions department.​

  • Automate business process for adding prospective students to communication and marketing campaigns based specified criteria.​

Solution

  • Created a Salesforce Experience Cloud solution where alumni can securely update their details and network with other alumni and students.​

  • Developed a general-purpose requirement tracking system for use across departments by leveraging custom Salesforce objects and Lightning Web Components.​

  • Built an automated system for assigning prospective students to Admissions Counselors along with an interface for managing available markets  and territories linked to relevant Counselors.​

  • Built and automated system for adding prospective students to campaigns along with a front-end interface for managing the campaign membership criteria.​

Result

  • Replaced a legacy “Alumni Directory” that only allowed alumni to view basic information about other alumni.​

  • Alumni are now able to easily update their own data online without having to directly contact Goshen College.​

  • Significantly reduced the time spent on data collection for the International Education department.​

  • International education students can log in to a portal to view and complete pending prerequisites.​

  • Admissions Counselors have access to internal components that display the status of application requirements for prospective students.​

  • The Admissions department can now dynamically manage a list of available markets and territories without reliance on a Salesforce Admin.​

  • The Admissions department can now maintain criteria that determine whether a prospective student is added to a campaign without reliance on a Salesforce Admin.​
