Challenge

  • New and ongoing corporate initiatives to harmonize the construction process of cable and fiber networks across dozens of US markets and thousands of business partners.

  • Heavily customized system with growing technical debt and code instability

  • Growing demand from upstream and downstream partners to integrate with data and business processes.

  • Business critical operations with +5K direct users and +20K indirect users that require very high availability.

Solution

  • Introduced software development best practices such as code modularity, extensibility, reusability which reduces development effort for new features and overall maintenance.

  • Refactored and optimize many components including triggers, flows, Lightning components for better user experience, bulkification and to address other Salesforce limit issues.

  • Created rest-based APIs and callouts to integrate with integration partners allowing consumption of upstream events and publishing of data changes and business events to downstream partners. Some integration partners include the following Comcast systems, CIFA, ECAF, Workbench, AEGIS, Sphere.

  • Created advanced security model that granted access to various objects based on Job role, geographic area, business partner, feature and object using Apex sharing rules.

Result

  • Improved velocity and responsiveness to new features and production issues.

  • Improved insight in application performance and issues from logs and active monitoring.

  • Zero errors due to Salesforce limits.

  • Processing over $2B in business partner invoices per year.

  • Growing list of downstream partners signing on to join the construction process.
